Story
By the early nineties, Electro Harmonix founder Mike Matthew no longer owned his old EHX trademarks. He teamed up with St. Petersburg-based company Sovtek to bring the iconic Big Muff back to life. The Crimson is modelled after the very first and very rare Russian-made Red Army stompbox.
The Red Army sounded warmer and more defined than an any of its predecessors and it is accurately reflected in the Crimson. This is your chance to own a part of fuzz history. The Smashing Pumpkins, Sonic Youth and Wilco have all put the Russian Big Muff to good use.
Sound
Controls consist of a very simple volume, tone and distort. Tone sweeps through bright and dark character, while distort loads up the fuzzy goodness to your taste. On the side of the pedal you'll find an extra mode button. JHS designed this added circuit to boost mid frequencies to force your tone through a mix.
