A near immaculate example of the gorgeous Sigma DM-SG5 Mahogany Dreadnought Electro Acoustic, with it's original gig bag.
Sigma are now firmly established in the guitar world, with a reputation for producing high-quality (and beautiful) instruments at a fraction of the cost of some of their competitors! The DM-SG is no exception to this, delivering alluring vintage aesthetics and incredible playability without the associated price tag.
Construction
Mahogany is used for the back and sides; mahogany is known for being lightweight, resonant and having a pretty grain pattern, making it an excellent wood for acoustic building. On top, you've got solid sitka spruce, a wood that frequently features on guitars that cost significantly more than this one!
The dreadnought shape ensures plenty of weighty projection, with a warm low-end response. The curves have been carefully calculated with reference to the dreadnought acoustics of old; this means an ergonomic playing experience without sacrificing tone. Combine this with the lightweight mahogany neck and the unusual micarta fingerboard, and you've got a beautifully organic cocktail of resonant tones at your disposal!
Hardware & Electronics
One of the key features of this guitar is the Fishman Sonitone preamp. Fishman are known for their expertise in the acoustic field, making pickups and preamps that produce incredibly convincing sounds.
The Sonitone embodies this, with simple tone and volume controls built-in for tonal tweaking. A rosewood bridge, flower art scratchplate, heritage cherry sunburst finish and chrome tuners complete the picture; a working instrument that also happens to look pretty darn beautiful!
